Erin Straughn, MS, RDN, LDN earned her bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Simmons University, magna cum laude, with a minor in Psychology. She completed her master’s degree in Nutrition and Health Promotion with a focus in Entrepreneurship in Simmons’ combined Master’s of Science and Dietetic Internship Program. During this time, Erin completed her thesis on the association between food allergies and disordered eating, research which she is passionate about bringing into her work.
In her dietetic internship, Erin participated in Simmons’ Eating Disorder Track, where she was exposed to treatment at various levels of care. Erin’s placements brought her to different treatment centers, including Klarman Eating Disorder Center, Cambridge Eating Disorder Center, and the Renfrew Center for Eating Disorders. She feels privileged that so many have chosen to let her join them in their journey towards recovery.
Alongside her work at Lori Lieberman & Associates, Erin also works at Franciscan Children’s Hospital, where she provides nutrition care in their Inpatient Mental Health units. She also provides outpatient counseling to children and families addressing a variety of nutritional needs, including appropriate growth and weight management, food allergies and intolerances, and picky eating.
Erin practices with principles of Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size® at the forefront of her care. At Lori Lieberman & Associates, Erin works with pediatric and adult clients with a range of conditions including eating disorders and disordered eating, as well as those with chronic diseases including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and food allergies. She has received additional training using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-Enhanced (CBT-E) and Family Based Treatment (FBT), evidence based approaches for the treatment of eating disorders. Erin believes her role is to work in collaboration with patients to help them uncover the answers they already have within.
In her spare time Erin loves listening to podcasts, watching true crime documentaries, and finding new music to spin to. She’s happiest when she is in her kitchen, making food for people that she loves.
